Inspired by her own experiences, illustration artist Meltem Şahin invites everyone to draw their own monsters. Bring your anxiety, fear, and happiness to the session. Following the direction of the artist, reflect your feelings towards your monster, using Procreate and Apple Pencil on the iPad. Learn to animate the drawings you’ve created and share them in GIF format with the ones you love.

Meltem Şahin
IllustratorMeltem Şahin completed her undergraduate at Bilkent University in the department of Graphic Design. Afterward, she completed her Master’s degree in illustration at MICA through the Fulbright scholarship. She curated PMS in 2017, an AR exhibition in collaboration with female artists. Her animations have been shown around six different countries. She has won awards from prestigious illustration competitions such as American Illustration and Applied Arts. Her Instagram filters have been viewed over 210 million times. Last year, within the scope of Wrong Biennale, her artwork has been presented all across Tokyo. In June 2021, her Dark Earth Instagram filter was showcased in Paris.
“Since childhood, I have been interested in Eastern culture, the strangeness of the universe, the beauty of details, and the melancholy of passing time. As an artist who grew up in Turkey, I observe the idealized beauty of Western culture along with Eastern culture, which celebrates imperfect and temporal beauty.”
